A record 7,558,551 passed through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in 2014.
The figure was a significant jump from 2013 which saw 6,946,473 passengers pass through.
This is according to a source at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who disclosed this to The Guardian.
According to the source the marked increase in passengers is attributed to the re-modeled new terminals of the airport.
This significantly led to an optimal growth in the bulk of passengers, cargoes and aircrafts movement at the airport.
It was also revealed that in 2013, aircraft movement at the airport was 97,554 which was 12.3% less than the total of 109,628 in 2014.
Cargo movement at the airport also increased by 2.93% with a figure of 191,037,551.61, compared with 196,794,444 movements in 2013.
With the completion of new terminals and remodelling of airports in view, passenger traffic is projected to increase at an annual rate of about 15%.
